Aspen is definitely the spot for the most picturesque of views! The snow-capped mountains and fairytale-like forests reminded us of our favorite winter memories – only it was March! Since we hit ski season a bit late (get there before the end of March if you’re an avid skier), we replaced the activity with plenty of dog sledding and snowmobiling, which we definitely had a lot of fun with.
We actually rented a house for our trip, but I would recommend the St. Regis Aspen if you’re looking for a hotel. The hotel location has breathtaking views, a spa, and the accommodations are the definition of luxury!
There’s no shortage of cozy cafés and trendy taverns in Aspen! Comfort food is top cuisine, it really hits the spot and warms you up from the icy chill outside!
Hit up Ajax, the hottest place to go and grab a quick bite before skiing. They’re known for their truffle fries and steak frites – total comfort food. Seriously, you DON’T want to miss the truffle fries!!! Grilled cheese and tomato soup is also one of my favs. White House Tavern is another top location, it’s one of the most famous restaurants in Aspen.
If you’re in the mood for delicious French food, Crêperie du Village is a high-end french cafe, with a totally chic vibe. The quaint setting is super intimate and dark, and it’s definitely the place to be seen at. Again, you MUST try the truffle fondue! If you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit obsessed with them ever since going truffle hunting in South Carolina!
If you’re looking for a snack, a great place for a farm to table lunch is at the Meat and Cheese Farm Shop. You can grab a to-go meal (and if it’s summertime!) snack in the park or outside.
While you’re on your way to the ski lift or snowboarding, pick up a great cup of gourmet hot chocolate at Gorsuch Café!
You can’t visit Aspen without trying out dog sledding at Krabloonik, or snowmobiling at Maroon Bells.
We did the twilight evening tour, which was really amazing and full of breathtaking scenery. Not to mention, the dogs were also the cutest! We got hit with an unexpected blizzard right in the middle of the tour, but still had a lot of fun – definitely a memorable experience!
Peace out, snowy Aspen. See you next time!
