Blackberry Farm is a gorgeous luxury hotel and resort on 4,200 acres of rolling hills near the Great Smoky Mountains in eastern Tennessee. A combination of the fresh mountain air, peaceful scenery and gorgeous grounds really makes it a memorable experience. I visited the location for a quick birthday getaway, but wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the setting even more!
The resort is also home to an onsite creamery, bakery, and charcuterie, plus 68 unique cottages. Each cottage has a unique rustic-chic style, which reflects the scenery perfectly. The resort is all-inclusive which makes it a great destination spot for travelers looking for a no-fuss vacation. It’s also kid friendly and great for familites, especially around the holidays. A trip to the Farm will put you at the higher end of the budget, but definitely worth it for special occasions.
Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a welcome basket filled with yummy, homemade snacks! It was definitely a great way to start my trip.
With Michelin rated 5 star restaurants on ground, you won’t have trouble finding somewhere to enjoy a meal. The Dogwood Restaurant and dining in The Barn offer rugged yet refined southern eats- try the Sweet Tea Chicken!
There is also a brewery on property, so be sure to enjoy some good brews before you leave! One of my favorite spots was the underground wine cellar, which houses 180,000 wines!
If you’re a foodie, visit one of the daily cooking demos. All the vegetables that are grown in the gardens are sustainably harvested and used in the restaurants. They also produce fresh cheese and eggs daily. It’s truly farm to table dining!
We spent the second day of our trip relaxing at the Spa. The “Wellhouse”, as they call it, offers yoga classes, massages, fitness classes, facials, skincare treatments and more. The setting is truly peaceful, looking out into the mountains and forest beyond.
Due to both my passion for food and love for dogs, we decided to go for the festivities of the Il Raduno retreat at the Farm. We spent the weekend enjoying this retreat and learned all about these special truffle-hunting dogs called Lagotto Romagnolo – they are so cute, and smart! During the all-day event we met with the dog owners and master trainer, learning a lot about this special breed. It was so fun spending time with the pups and watching them play on the property! Watching them hunt truffle was definitely a unique experience!
At the end of the night, we were treated to a 5-course grand finale dinner, including all the truffles that were caught that day. So delicious, and much needed after a busy day!
THINGS TO DO
This location offers activities for all types of travelers! If you’re feeling adventurous, try fly fishing, horseback riding, cycling, or hiking in the rugged landscape.
The hotel is also within a 15 min drive to Smoky Mountain Park, which is a must-visit for nature lovers. Also, the Farm is less than a half hour drive from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, which has more shops, restaurants, and gorgeous sights.
We took the Farmstead Tour, which is great to take in the scenery. Visit the animals in the barn for a meet and greet! They are all super friendly! 🙂
Until next time!
