The iconic hustle and bustle of New York is something that is just addicting to travelers and native New Yorkers like me! Time spent in NY goes by as quick as a minute – so here’s my travel guide to the top places to stay, places to eat, and things to do when in the city!
The 1 Hotel is my go-to spot if you want to be right in the hustle and bustle of mid Manhattan. The green ivy walls are not something to be missed, contrasted against the industrial concrete and brick of other buildings! The location is key, within a 5 minute walking distance to Central Park and Fifth Avenue. What’s also great is that it’s moderately priced and a more budget-friendly option.
I love the decor of the hotel – blends rustic elements with an industrial edge.
The hotel incorporates trees and plants into the decorations, giving you a sense of nature when in the middle of the city!
The Beekman Hotel in the Financial District is full of history – the architecture is so unique, mixing historical charm with modern updates. It was one of the first skyscrapers, dating back to the Victorian Era.
For more of a luxury accommodation, my top spot is the iconic Plaza Hotel, with its prime location on Central Park and stunning interiors. It’s especially gorgeous during the holiday season!
When in New York, you MUST stop at Marc Forgione’s restaurant in Tribeca – the eats are to die for. He’s a master chef and it shows in the food. Try the Chicken Under-a-Brick (below), you won’t be disappointed!
Eataly is also a must-stop. Just like an Italian market, the store/cafe boasts imported pasta, cheese, breads, sweets and more.
Try a casual lunch at Serafina in the Upper East Side – their pasta dishes are always amazing.
If you’re looking for something more unusual, try Rice to Riches. Just like the name suggests, it’s all about rice pudding – in multiple styles and flavors! Both sweet and savory types make appearances – all are delish!
Finally, Serendipity is just a quintessential NY spot you can’t pass up. Go classic with the frozen hot chocolate. Yum!!!
Italian food overload (almost!) at Eataly – everything’s made fresh!
The array of crazy rice pudding flavors at Rice to Riches – the Tiramisu one is to die for!
You cannot leave NY without going to Serendipity!!!
Until next time, New York!
