Southern Charm

The enchanting charm and southern hospitality of both Charleston and Savannah make these cities popular places to vacation to. If you live in South Florida like me, they’re just a quick drive away – about 5 to 6 hours from Tampa, Florida. The mini road trip is definitely worth it!

With their signature Southern architecture and historic homes, the picturesque cities provide great backdrops for photos and sightseeing!

When in Savannah, my favorite place to stay is the Kimpton Brice Hotel – this stylish boutique hotel mixes history with modern design for a definitely unique style. Located right on the banks of the Savannah river, the setting is gorgeous!

In Charleston, the Belmond Charleston Place is my top hotel pick.

Savannah and Charleston are both totally dog and pet-friendly cities. There’s plenty of parks and walking areas – Bella loved coming along on the trip with us!

Aside from the parks and gorgeous architecture of these cities, the waterside locales are great for anyone who loves boating and fishing!

Be sure to bring along a great camera for these cities – a quick stroll down any street will offer numerous photo-ops! I traveled during December, so a comfy coat was needed for the very slight chill in the air. Bring shoes that are comfortable to walk in – for me, boots work!

Southern fare reigns supreme in these cities. If in Savannah, stop by The Olde Pink House Restaurant – set in a historic (pink, of course!) mansion, you’ll love the hearty comfort food – the grits are a must-order!

When in Charleston, try Husk for delicious Southern-American dishes. Magnolia’s is also a great option for upscale cuisine that mixes modern flavors with classic southern staples.
